The principles governing the activities of the Ministry
The principles governing the activities of the Ministry of Health are laid out by §10 of Act no. 2/1969 Coll., on the Establishment of Ministries and Other Central Government Authorities of the Czech Republic:
(1) The Ministry of Health is the central authority of state administration for health care, public health protection, health research activities, directly controlled health facilities, handling addictive drugs, pharmaceutical preparations and medicinal products, precursors and additives, the search for, protection and use of natural medicinal sources, natural spas and mineral water resources, medicinal products and technical equipment for prevention, diagnostics and treating people, health insurance and health information system, the use of biocide preparations and introduction of biocide preparations and agents to the market.
(2) The Czech Spa Inspectorate also comprises part of the Ministry of Health.
(3) The Inspectorate of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances also comprises an organizational part of the Ministry of Health.
